From director

and
Double Eye Studios, LOVESEAT is an interactive mixed reality
installation which premiered at the 2019 Venice
Film Festival.
From
Double Eye's
press kit: LOVESEAT is a romantic comedy about
Abby and Bruce who compete for the love of an
armchair on the reality show “The Perfect
Partner.” Part-story, part-interaction between
virtual and real worlds, the actors perform
simultaneously in front of a live audience and a
virtual audience hosted on a social VR platform.
Before and after the main performance, audience
members can immerse themselves in the storyworld
of Loveseat with a Bose AR spatialized audio
experience.
On this project I served as "Bose AR Developer" and was responsible for the spatial audio mixing as well as co-developing the AR app's UI and control logic. The LOVESEAT Bose AR app was created in the Unity game engine and I used the Resonance Audio SDK for spatialization. I led the developement and delivery of the app with fellow devs Micheal Shemesh and Ringo Kam utilizing the project management tool Pivotal Tracker.
Enhanced by Bose AR, the "LOVESEAT" app invites participants to guide the progression of its narrative with physical gestures while audio spatialization places sound sources in a virtually created three-dimensional space. The rotation and motion tracking abilities of the Bose AR system translate the head movement of the listener in real time making them hear the audio as if they are actually in the room with it. Bose AR allows for a "phone down, hands free" experience that allows users to attain a deeper sense of immersion.
